The Tree of Hope has almost met its toy target for 2018 but is still in need, financially. The 100-year-old holiday appeal by Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington provides toys, clothing and more to 900 children every December 25th.

The campaign has received unprecedented levels of support from individuals, businesses and organizations wanting to sponsor a child or family. The pace of sponsorship has broken all records allowing the campaign to almost reach its toy target earlier than any time in modern memory.

However, donations of money are still needed. The campaign has raised roughly 75% of the $40,000 it needs by the time the campaign ends December 19.

The Tree of Hope needs money for a variety of reasons. It uses money to buy gifts for teens who do not want toys and to pay for special needs and big-ticket items. It also uses donations to fund year-round activities such as summer camp. And more recently, it used emergency funds to pay for a shortfall in winter coats. First estimates were that it would need as many as 60 coats for kids, but the Campaign wound up buying more than 80 to fill the gap.

The Tree of Hope is urgently asking for donations online, by cheque or in-person with debit/credit. All the details are at the campaign website – www.HelpTreeofHope.ca
