The Who are masters at combining storytelling and music to create a wholly engaging experience for their fans. They even developed the successful rock opera Tommy, proving to fans and critics alike that they are in a league of their own. Here are 6 facts about The Who you might not know about.

 

 

1) The Detours and The High Numbers where both names the band had before they settled on The Who.

 

 

2) At one point, The Who made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for having the loudest concert in London on May 31, 1976. They no longer hold that title.

3) Who songs are used for the hit TV Show CSI and all its spin off series’ opening themes: CSI (2000) uses “Who Are You?”; CSI Miami (2002) uses “Won’t Get Fooled Again”; CSI New York (2004) uses “Baba O’Riley”; and CSI: Cyber (2015) uses “I Can See For Miles.”

 

 

 

4) Founding Who member Roger Daltrey used to work in a sheet metal factory when the band was just starting out. He made the band’s guitars himself at first.

5)  The worst festival experience they’ve ever had was playing Woodstock.

 

 

6) Apparently, John Entwistle’s financial problems was the reason why The Who got back together and toured again in 1996.
