Government Budget Review Funding

Premier Doug Ford is offering over 7-million dollars in funding to help municipalities and school boards find efficiencies.

 

Ford says his government will pay for reviews of their budgets to help them identify savings while maintaining front-line services.

 

Ontario’s municipalities have said they may be forced to raise taxes or cut services due to provincial government cuts

 

Mailbox Thieves 

Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a couple of mailbox thieves.

On April 25th, security footage shows two women stealing a metal mailbox from a home on Johnson Street.

Tips can be made to Kingston Police and you can remain anonymous

 

Bike Lane Barriers

The city has announced the installation of bike lane BARRIERS along Johnson Street, Brock Street, John Counter, and Taylor Kidd Blvd.

 

The temporary barriers will be installed this week, creating an added separation between cyclists and vehicles.

 

This will add half-a-meter to the existing bike lanes and will be taken down before the first snowfall

 

Flooding

Water levels on Lake Ontario and the St Lawrence river are expected to peak in early June, and while the city is not anticipating wide-spread flooding, they are advising residents in low-lying and flood prone areas to stay cautious.

 

The weekly water level forecast is showing a 50% chance that Lake Ontario could reach or exceed the highs from 2017 within 2 weeks.
