Earlier this month, Green Day celebrated 25 years since the release of Dookie. Now a song dating back to the pre-Dookie years has surfaced online.

The band performed “Stay” during a a gig opening for Killdozer at Berkeley Square on July 22, 1989. It’s a surprisingly clean recording too.

Fans had long speculated that the song was called “World vs. World”, but the band’s original drummer John Kiffmeyer put those rumours to rest in 2017 when he confirmed the song was written for an indie flick being made by Billie Joe Armstrong’s brother.
