Snow Day

 

Kingston is digging out from under 15 to 20cm of snow and it is another Snow Day for students but schools in the Tri-Board area will be open today.

Tri-Board Student Transportation announced the cancellation of buses early this morning.  Schools operated by the Limestone District Board, Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic Board and Hasting – Prince Edward Board will be open today.  They were closed yesterday after the forecast called for heavy snowfall.

East of Kingston schools are closed and school transportation is not operating. Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario has cancelled all school transportation and schools operated by the Upper Canada District School Board and Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario remain closed today.

 

Water Main Break

 

There has been a water main break on Carmil Boulevard between Collins Bay Road and Butternut Street in Kingston’s west end.  It was reported to Utilities Kingston around 3:20 a.m.

A crew has been working to repair the break and the estimated time to finish the repair work is 2:00 p.m. today.

 

Youth – Terrorism

 

The Kingston youth facing terrorism related charges will appear in court by video link next Tuesday after another delay in his bail hearing.

The teenager was arrested on January 24th following an RCMP investigation.

He is facing charges of knowingly facilitating a terrorist activity, and counselling a person to deliver, place, discharge or detonate an explosive or other lethal device in a public place.

He appeared briefly by video link in a Kingston courtroom yesterday and had his case put over until next week.

 

Car Taken – Harrowsmith Teen Charged

 

A 14 year old from Harrowsmith is facing a court date after a vehicle was taken for a ride last week without the owner’s permission.

Frontenac OPP say they were called around 3pm on Friday about the boy taking a family member’s vehicle.  The 14 year old has been charged with taking the vehicle without the consent of the owner. He is due to appear in court in Kingston on March 5th.
