Utilities Kingston Phone Scam

Utilities Kingston is continuing to warn people of a new phone scam in the area.

The scammer claims to be from Utilities Kingston or Hydro One, and threatens the customer that their utility services will be disconnected if they do not provide immediate payment.

Utilities Kingston is reminding its customers to never give any personal information to the caller, including your utility or credit card number, and contact them if you happen to get a call.

Their procedure for long overdue accounts is to send multiple notices prior to disconnection, as well as always delivering a Final Notice to the service address.

They say 24-year-old Don Johnson has been charged with attempt murder, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Twenty-one-year-old Jerry Lewis and 25-year-old Manpreet Singh have both been charged with being a party to the offence of attempt murder.

Danforth Benefit

Canadian rock band Billy Talent took to the stage on Satuday night in Toronto’s Greektown neighbourhood, to raise money for the victims of last month’s shooting in the area.

They were joined by other Canadian artists like Dallas Green, and PUP, to show support.

The venue’s nearly 1500 seats were sold out, with proceeds being donated to the TorontoStrong fund.

Swim for Kids

A total of 75 swimmers took part in the second annual Swim for Kids in Lake Ontario over the weekend, with the cause raising over 40,000 dollars.

This was up from their 27,000 dollar total last year.

The money raised will be divided between the YMCA of Kingston Y Penguins Aquatic club, and Easter Seals Ontario, to help children with disabilities.
