Cannabis Stores – Kingston

The location of the Ontario Cannabis Store in Kingston has been announced and it is one of the first four in Ontario.  It will be located in the RioCan Centre on Gardiners Road…conveniently located next to the Home Outfitters with Mucho Burrito and Five Guys nearby.

The locations of the first four provincially run cannabis stores were announced yesterday.  The three other stores will be in Toronto, Guelph and Thunder Bay.

A total of forty stores are expected to open across Ontario this year.  The province plans to set up roughly 150 standalone cannabis stores by the year 2020.

Economic Partnership

Kingston will be working with organizations in Central and Northern New York State on a unique economic development initiative.  The Kingston Economic Development Corporation has announced the launch of what is being called…The Kingston – Syracuse Pathway.

It’s the result of a year of collaboration between business, government and academic leaders on both sides of the border.

The economic development corporation says the potential trade benefits of the Kingston-Syracuse Pathway are significant.  It says it will take advantage of common interests in things like agribusiness, Lyme disease research, defense electronics, energy, tourism, biotechnology and emerging medical technologies.

Hyperborea is a Canadian Burning Man sanctioned event and it will be taking place at the end of May on a field on Doyle Road owned by Stone Mills Township.

Bus Shelter

Kingston Police are looking for the person who has been shooting out the glass in Kingston Transit bus shelters with a pellet gun.  Four shelters have had the glass shot out. Police say a black Chrysler 300 pulled up to the bus shelter at the corner of Weller Avenue and Trillium Court on Sunday afternoon and the driver shout out the glass. The three other shelters were damaged on March 7th.

A 33 year old Kingston man is facing charges after his common law wife was assaulted.

Kingston Police were called to an apartment on Tuesday night and had to break down the door to get in.  They found a woman holding a baby…bleeding from an injury to her face.  The man was found hiding under some sheets.  He was already wanted for assaulting the same woman in March and has been charged with three counts of assault, theft and five counts of breach probation.

Jersey Day – GoFundMe

It’s Jersey Day…and this year it is taking on a new meaning following the tragic crash involving the Humboldt Broncos.  People are being encouraged to wear their favourite team jersey to honour the team.

Ron MacLean and Don Cherry paid their respects again last night during Coaches Corner and Grapes asked people to make a donation to the GoFundMe campaign for the Broncos.  The fund has now grown to over 9 million dollars.

GoFundMe says it is going to take several months to distribute the money people have donated so far for the victims of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash.  It is now the largest ever online crowdfunding campaign in Canadian history.
