Organist – Sexual Exploitation

A former Gananoque Church organist will be sentenced in March after pleading guilty to the sexual exploitation of a 15 year old boy more than 20 years ago.

69 year old Brian Joseph Lucy was the organist at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and the leader of the church’s youth group when he began his sexual relationship with the boy.  He was also a close family friend.  The victim came forward about two years ago after Lucy was sentenced for other sex crimes involving boys.  He’s currently serving a five year term in Joyceville Institution for indecent assault and gross indecency.

Sexual Assault

A 36 year old Kingston man has been charged with sexual assault, assault and forcible confinement.  Kingston Police say the man was charged after he refused to let a woman leave his home on the night of Tuesday, January 2nd.  The man was arrested on Sunday.

Child Pornography

A 51 year old Kingston man has been charged with making child pornography available to other people.  The man also faces charges of possessing child pornography and accessing child pornography.  Kingston Police say they began their investigation on January 14th.  The man was arrested after a search warrant was executed on Friday and police seized multiple computer hard drives.

Seventh Suspect Arrested

Kingston Police have arrested the last of seven suspects wanted for the kidnapping, assault and robbery of a man at a Lansdowne Street residence on January 9th.

31 year old Ian Robert Charles Miller was arrested at a residence on Barnsley Crescent on Saturday.

George Scott – FLY London

A Kingston entrepreneur who sold his environmental waste business and started a Kingston flying school and flight training centre is expanded his business.

George Scott has announced his company, Fly Kingston, has acquired Forest City Flight Centre in London, Ontario.  Scott says it will be rebranded as Fly London and further details will be released in the near future.

Mink Farms – Battersea

An animal rights groups is trying to have mink farms in the province…including one in Battersea closed.  The Kitchener Ontario Animal Liberation Alliance has released video made last August at the mink farm of Walt and Heather Freeman.  They say it shows animal cruelty and neglect.  The video was made without the knowledge of the owners.

The OSPCA says it is investigating the group’s complaints about the Battersea farm and mink farms in Oshawa, Tillsonburg, Stratford and Wasaga Beach.

Novelis – Jeep Wrangler

The new Jeep Wrangler is using aluminum supplied by Novelis in Kingston and Oswego, New York.

The company has announced its aluminum is being used for doors, fenders and swing gate.  The change from steel is expected to make the vehicles about 90 kilograms lighter.  Novelis says it is one of over 200 vehicles that are using its aluminum.

Aykroyd – Cotton – Order of Ontario

Actor Dan Aykroyd and Kingston psychologist Dorothy Cotton have been named to the Order of Ontario.

Aykroyd lives part time in the Sydenham area.

Cotton is considered to be a top authority on police interaction with people suffering from mental health problems.

They’re among 23 people who will receive the Order of Ontario in a ceremony at Queen’s Park on February 27th.
