Police need your help in finding a suspect who stole a purse. On July 26th at approximately 12:30pm a woman noticed her purse and wallet had been stolen from a coffee shop at the Kingston Centre. The wallet was later used by the suspect at Macs Convenience on Bath Road & Queen Mary Road. The suspect is male, 20-35 years, was seen wearing a dark baseball cap and dark t-shirt. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crimestoppers.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting after she was caught with a suitcase full of stolen merchandise. At 11:30am August 6th  the accused attended a store on Midland Avenue. Police say she selected a suitcase and then filled it with over 60 items of merchandise valued at close to $800. The woman was stopped by store security and police were called. The woman has been charged with theft under $5,000 and breach probation.

Kingston Police say 24-year-old man is facing several charges after a failed robbery attempt downtown. Saturday night  the suspect approached the victim near Princess & Bagot where he allegedly displayed a knife at his waist and told the victim he was being robbed. Officers arrested him a short time later and found a large 12” kitchen knife and a small quantity of marijuana.

A man from eastern Ontario man has been charged with animal cruelty under the Ontario SPCA Act following an incident in which a horse fell out of a moving livestock trailer on Highway 401 last month.  The trailer was being towed on the highway just east of Prescott on July 14th when the horse fell out through an open door. The mare was injured, but survived and is recovering.

Horne’s Ferry which operates between Wolfe Island and Cape Vincent will be out of service starting at 10:15am this morning. Crews will be working to replace the engine gear box. Ferry service is expected to be up and running Friday morning.
