iTunes CRA Fraud

The iTunes gift card scam continues to work for fraudsters in the Kingston area.

Frontenac OPP say they were called last Monday by someone in South Frontenac who had been convinced to buy iTunes cards after getting a threatening phone call from someone claiming to be with the Canada Revenue Agency.

Police haven’t said how much money the person lost.

Kingston Police say they’ve investigated several incidents involving people who have been scammed out of a total of more than 20 thousand dollars after receiving one of these threatening phone calls.

Police are urging consumers to be aware of these scams and say retailers should keep the scam in mind when consumers are buying large quantities of iTunes cards.
