Best pun I’ve heard in a long time. Most definitely.

The King County’s 48-foot, twin hulled environmental research vessell was named “SoundGuardian” after an online poll in January.

The name received 319 votes and beat out other names like “Cascadia” and “SeaKing”.

It’ll be going “to collect water quality data in Puget Sound, Lake Washington and the Duwamish River. The new vessel, which will replace the 40-year-old Liberty, will be cleaner, more efficient and safer to operate in rough waters.”

Seems like Washington just got a little more rocking in its scientific research!

Also: SoundGuardian would make the best Soundgarden cover band name ever.
