Storm Watch

March started off as a lamb but it is set to come in like a Lion with a winter storm watch for the Kingston region.

The Environment Canada forecast calls for light snow starting around noon today.

Then, for tonight…snow heavy at time with ice pellets and the risk of freezing rain.  10cms of snow and ice pellets is expected for Kingston.

Areas north of Kingston and the Belleville region could get up to 20cms.

The snow is forecast to end tomorrow morning followed by a mix of sun and cloud.

Cop Charged – Impaired

An off duty Kingston Police officer has been charged with impaired driving.

33 year old Geoffrey Graham of Foxboro has been charged by Napanee OPP following a single vehicle accident on the 401 near Odessa early Monday morning.

Graham is charged with driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in his blood.

He’s been place on administrative duty at police headquarters and has a date in court on March 8th.

Arrest – Robbery

Four down…one to go as Kingston Police work on wrapping up their investigation into two robberies at homes in Kingston in early February.

Police got a tip from the public and arrested 29 year old Adam Young in an apartment on Compton Street on Friday night.

He was wanted on a warrant for robbery, break and enter, assault with a weapon, wearing a disguise and breach of probation.

Three other people have already been arrested and police are continuing to look for 30 year old Ashley Litchfield.

Man Busted

A 32 year old Kingston man faces drug and weapons charges after police were called about a man passed out behind the wheel of a pickup truck at 7:30 yesterday morning.  Police found the man and the vehicle in the area of Bath Road and Armstrong Road.

He’s been charged with possession of crystal meth, possession of marijuana, possession of two prohibited weapons…collapsible batons and two counts of breach of probation.

Glenora Ferry

The Glenora Ferry was back in service this morning after it was taken out of service last night due to high winds and shifting ice.

It was taken out of service at nine last night and was back in service by 11:15 p.m.
