Do you love mixes of Rottweilers? Have you owned one before? Lucia may be the lady for you! She is an upbeat girl that loves her toys and gets excited when she plays. Lucia is a social butterfly with most human companions and loves the attention too! She believes that she is smaller than she is and would try to be a lap dog. She is looking for a human companion that will ensure she gets the adequate exercise to prevent boredom. Lucia is seeking a mature household where there are no children under the age of 12 to be her forever home as she can show guarding behaviour towards food. With proper training this can be managed to prevent it from progressing into a major issue. She would prefer to be the only pet in the household as she would rather have all of the attention to herself. Since Lucia is bouncy, happy go lucky girl she will benefit greatly from obedience training. We are looking for a country home and fenced in yard for her as an apartment setting would not be ideal for her. Lucia does still need to learn housetraining manners and would do best with someone that is home a lot. If not, then adopters need to be aware that they will need to look into the various options that are there for dogs with separation anxiety. Lucia is a special girl and needs an experienced owner who will work through her various behavioural twerks. She was previously adopted from us but it unfortunately didn’t work out. Lucia was returned to the shelter with a different behaviour that we haven’t seen before – when she’s bored she constantly drinks. This causes her to constantly want to urinate. Since return she did develop a urinary tract infection which has resolved by being on a prescription diet called c/d. Due to her special diet and behavioural twerks she will be a special needs girl. From the very first time she was with us to now, she has learned many commands such as ‘sit’, ‘shake’ and ‘down’ but could definitely keep learning. If you have the time, experience, and patience for this posh gal then drop by the shelter to meet this socialite.
