NEW YORK — Here’s a chance to trick or treat with the eyes and ears. Catch “Michael Jackson’s Halloween,” an animated special airing Friday on CBS.

Executive producer John Branca says the show is “just for fun.” He says Michael Jackson was just a big kid who loved Halloween and loved animation, so the show’s producers thought Jackson deserves to be part of the holiday.

The story takes place in a haunted house ruled by an evil sorceress. But Jackson’s music helps win the day. Thanks to that soundtrack and the special’s vibrant animation, Branca offers advice for everyone who tunes in: Watch it on a big-screen TV, and turn the sound way up.
