Traffic Problem

The intersection of Highway 15 and Highway 2 was closed this morning following a serious collision involving a van and a motorcycle.

Kingston Police say no traffic was being allowed through that busy intersection.

Police did not provide any details about the crash.

Frontenac Paramedics posted a message on Twitter shortly after 8:00 a.m. saying they treated a man in his 20’s who had suffered serious life-threatening injuries.

Town Home Fire

Kingston Fire and Rescue and Kingston Police are investigating the cause of a fire that has two families homeless.  The fire started outside two units of a townhouse development at 375 Patrick Street early yesterday morning.

Nobody was injured.

The fire caused up an estimated $100,000 to $150,000 damage to each of the units.

Condo Development

The developer who wants to build a 23 storey and a 20 storey condominium on Elevator Bay in Kingston is facing 160 charges from the Tarion Warranty Corporation.

Admirals Walk Residences Inc. and Sandro Sordi have each been charged with 80 counts of selling homes without being registered with Tarion.

Sales have been halted because of the charges.

Artillery Park – Cleaning

Artillery Park Aquatic Centre is closing down for two weeks for annual maintenance.

The pool, fitness centre and meeting rooms will be closed to the public from Tuesday, September 5th to Sunday September 17.

Repairs will be made, a new water treatment system will be installed, the pool will be scrubbed and all areas will receive a special deep cleaning.

The city says memberships will be honoured at the Invista Fitness Centre.

Sustainable Kingston – Opioid Session

Sustainable Kingston has announced a drop in session on the Opioid situation in Kingston.

Justine McIsaac from the Street Health Centre will host the session at the Sustainable Kingston office on Tuesday, September 19th.

It’s been designed as a drop in over the lunch hour to help create awareness in Kingston about illicit drug use in the community, opioid dependence and Fentanyl-related overdoses.

School Buses

You may see some school buses on the roads today…

Kingston’s four French schools open today and students and drivers are being reminded to beware of school buses on the roads.
