Harbour – Pen Vision

There are now at least six proposed redevelopment plans for the Kingston Penitentiary and Portsmouth Olympic Harbour properties.  The Portsmouth District Community Association has come up with a proposal to keep as much green space as possible in the area.  Its proposal includes increasing the height of the Olympic Harbour Building to 6 storeys… with a mix of housing, retail space and restaurants.

Consultants working for the federal government have developed four possible scenarios for the site and a private group is proposing an international sail training centre and housing development.

The next public information session on the redevelopment is February 27th.

Amherst Island – Wind Project

The wind energy project planned for Amherst Island needs to win approval for a key rezoning application before it can proceed.

Windelectric has applied to temporarily rezone the parkland on Bath Road in Millhaven for industrial use.  The project won’t be able to proceed unless the rezoning takes place.

The company is planning to use the land for a dock and marshalling yard for equipment it needs to transport to the island.

The public has until March 2nd to comment.
