CFBK – Refugees

CFB Kingston won’t be used to house Syrian refugees.

The final group of 25 thousand Syrian refugees arrived in Canada last week.

All have found housing elsewhere through the government and sponsorships.

That means soldiers will be able to move back into their quarters at CFB Kingston.  They were ordered to leave so refugees could be housed on the base…but that isn’t happening now.

Medical Marijuana Clinic

Kingston is getting a dedicated medical marijuana clinic.

The Canadian Cannabis Clinic is set to open in mid-April at a location on upper Princess Street.

The Whig reports the clinic will only take on patients referred by physicians who aren’t comfortable prescribing medical marijuana.  It will have a doctor on staff able to do the paperwork to allow a patient to purchase medical marijuana.

It will also have an educator to help patients choose the proper marijuana to use and it advocates use of a vaporizer to avoid smoking the medical pot.

Store Break In

Kingston Police has posted surveillance video of two people suspected of breaking into a hair salon at the Cataraqui Centre.  Detectives hope the public will be able to identify the man and woman.

Police believe the sliding glass door to Quattro Hair Salon was forced open around 5:15 Sunday afternoon.  The salon was closed on Sunday but thieves made off with money from the till and money collected for gift certificates.
