Annie is seeking an extra-spectacular home! You see, poor Annie arrived at the shelter with an injury to one of her back legs. We were alarmed initially, because here was this short, semi-pudgy, 6 year old German Shepherd mix hopping around on three legs, using her injured back leg like a ‘kickstand’ to help with her balance. Upon further inspection by a Veterinarian, it was determined that Annie’s leg was actually injured quite some time ago, and has since healed and left the joints in her leg immobile. It is not painful to her at this time, however, Annie does have some signs of arthritis in her hips and joints and may require a pain management regimen in the future. Given that Annie uses this leg to help her balance, the Veterinarian thought that amputation would hinder, and not help, her situation. We know that she sounds like a handful to take on, but this affectionate, adaptable, adorable lady promises to add so much to your life. She enjoys interacting with people, and might do well with other relaxed dogs in the home, but Annie cannot live with cats. If you’re looking to give a deserving dog her second chance for a brand new, loving family, visit the Kingston Humane Society today! Given that Annie will require regular veterinary check-ups, and likely a pain-management program as she ages, Annie’s adoption fee has been reduced to our Special Needs price. For more information, visit the shelter or contact our Adoptions staff.
